Let s build the industry together

According to conference participators composite industry is the most perspective in Russia and ex-USSR countries. It was illustrated already by the first speech made by general sales manager of OCV who gave fiber market as an example. According to world FRP consuming index Northern America is the leader:12,3 kg per each person. Western Europe and Japan have 6,5 and 6,3 kg accordingly. Russia and CIS meanwhile have only 0,6 and 0,5 kg.
If we divide the world market application for industries we will see that the most composite materials are used in construction and automotive industry.

In Russia the most perspective applications are:

• construction
• automotive industry
• road-building
• infrastructure
• small shipbuilding.

But the perspectives of composite sales increasing in ex-USSR countries exists even in spite of conservatism in the main industries and normative-technical base. The main problems of composite industry in Russia and other CIS countries are: old technologies, low quality of composite goods, week state support, personnel problems, native raw materials absence, certificate and standardization problems etc.

But the general mood at the conference was optimistic. Composite producers in this area now cope with new technologies like vacuum infusion and RTM. According to conference estimation total CIS FRP volume in 2008 is 65 000 tones (80% for Russia). The forecast is 16% growth (40% and more in some industries).The participants plan to meet at the next conference 2009 and analyze what are the changes for good.
